Significance: This pub was mentioned 10 times in Chapter 15, 10 times! Coming in at 420 pages this is no light reading, but it should definitely be the first place you turn when you have any questions about assignments. This document covers everything from Base of Preference programs to deferring your assignment because your child is a senior in high school.

*On a personal note, we had to apply for a humanitarian assignment when we found out my wife’s mother was terminally ill with cancer. On more than one occasion we had to show the people at MPF pages from this AFI because they kept telling us we couldn’t do this or that. In the end, the AF took care of us and stationed my wife within a 10-minute drive of her mom.

Short Story: If you have any questions about getting/changing/or canceling orders (TDYs included), this is the place to look.
